My colleague, the ever-so-chic Lisa Collins Shaddock, shared with me that she and her husband are diehard Hudson House brunch fans. When they go they like to play a game where they fantasize about traveling to the place where their oyster hails from and what they would do there for a vacation. If you know me or have read any of my restaurant stories in the past year you may have noticed that I want to become that guy — Mr. Brunch. The employee lawsuits have been pending for two years, they have not been newsworthy, and were brought after the employees had been terminated. Starting January 30, Hudson House is open Monday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m. When Hudson House opens next Monday, January 30, expect an interior that transports one to New York City or Boston with heavy dark wood accents, plaids, and leather booths.

It’ll be interesting to see how it fares in LA, as a different restaurant with the same name already exists in the South Bay. The Dallas restaurant group owned by Hunter Pond is banking on a clubby East Coast-style menu with some local ingredients and flavor. Hudson House goes big on its open raw bar featuring oysters, seafood towers, sushi, and shrimp cocktails. Appetizers go heavy on big salads, cauliflower bites, and a Nantucket chowder using freshly shucked clams. Kate Hudson is one of the most accomplished actresses in Hollywood, so it’s no surprise she’s the owner of a gorgeous home in Los Angeles. In 2011, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress purchased the mansion next door so she could make room for her family.

But outside, it’ll be hard to forget this is still West Hollywood, with plants placed strategically to help shield diners from the hustle and bustle of Sunset Boulevard. The new hotspot is right next to SoHo House, Lavo, and Prince Street Pizza. The Fabletics cofounder is always sharing her workout routines with her followers on social media. Kate has a massive home gym, complete with any kind of workout equipment imaginable. From the exercise balls and the Peloton to the yoga mats and the stripper pole, this fitness junkie has it all.
Of course, there’s a fish of the day along with crab cake and maple-plank salmon. Sandwiches include a lobster roll with fries, a Rutherford club sandwich, and a double-layer cheeseburger. Expect a substantial martini menu, along with frozen Bellinis, and some non-alcoholic options like the one made with yuzu, cucumber, basil, and honey. The family decorates a massive white staircase for the holidays each year. Petal-shaped light fixtures light the staircase with carefully placed art pieces to look at along the way down.
As I am not a true oyster aficionado I appreciated that each had a description. He reads the New York Times Sunday edition cover to cover (and often attempts the crossword puzzle). He knows how to style himself impeccably in a calculated casual way. Overall it’s an unfussy and familiar menu serving traditional American fare.

Kate’s backyard is just as gorgeous with its green landscape and shrubbery. The Something Borrowed actress’ home has more than enough room for Rani and her brothers to play in, as you can tell from this snapshot. As for her 1935 Tudor Revival home, which Kate uses as a guest house, it’s fitted with five bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms.

Subsequently, at their hotel, Mr. Pond saw the same woman stopping in front of his hotel and exiting her vehicle. At no point was Mr. Pond issued a ticket, nor was he interviewed or taken into custody regarding the incident. Mr. Pond was not aware that the reckless driver filed a misdemeanor complaint about his interaction with her, following her nearly hitting his children with her car.

Separately, an arrest warrant was issued this month in Colorado for Vandelay’s CEO, Hunter Pond, on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and harassment related to an October incident. When reached for comment, Eater LA received a statement from Jason H. Friedman, an attorney for Pond and Vandelay Hospitality Group, responding to the lawsuit and warrant. We intend to address this matter legally in the Colorado Court, and expect Mr. Pond to be fully vindicated. My dining companion and I decided to try all six oyster options at Hudson House and all were delicious, but I must say that the blue points were my absolute favorite. I made sure to note when we were leaving that during happy hour (every day from 3 to 6 pm) all oysters are half-price (normally it’s $3.50 per oyster). Hudson House comes from Vandelay Hospitality as the group’s first entry into the LA market.
